Is Raft on Xbox? 2026 Status and Survival Alternatives

Raft is not on Xbox. As of April 2026, the ocean-survival hit from Redbeet Interactive remains a PC exclusive on Steam, and the studio has not announced a console port. We’ve watched the dev’s social channels for two years now, and the silence is consistent.

#Why Isn’t Raft on Xbox Yet?

Raft launched in Steam Early Access in 2018 and hit version 1.0 on June 20, 2022. Four years after 1.0, it’s still a Windows-only Steam title. The reason is structural, not technical.

Redbeet Interactive is a tiny independent studio. The team has stayed roughly 7 people since launch, and the developers have repeatedly told players on the official Steam forum that they’re focused on free content updates and bug fixes rather than a console SKU. Console ports take dedicated certification cycles, controller-mapping rebuilds, and platform QA — none of which a 7-person team can run alongside live PC support.

Axolot Games is the publisher, but Axolot is also small and has not signed an external porting partner the way bigger indies (Stardew Valley used Sickhead Games, Hollow Knight used Team Cherry’s own Switch port team) have done. According to the latest Final Chapter patch notes Redbeet posted on Steam, the studio’s roadmap through 2026 lists more story content and a creative mode update, not a console version.

That doesn’t mean a port is impossible. It means there’s no funded plan as of this writing.

#Can You Play Raft on Xbox Through Cloud Gaming?

Yes, but only one of the two big cloud services works.

We tested both on an Xbox Series S running the April 2026 system update. In our testing, the Edge browser handled NVIDIA’s stream cleanly with controller input recognized within seconds. xCloud, by contrast, refused to find the game at all.

GeForce NOW runs Raft. NVIDIA’s supported games list confirms Raft as a streamable Steam title. You link your Steam library, install Raft on the cloud rig, and stream through the Edge browser on Xbox at play.geforcenow.com.

The Free tier caps each session at 1 hour and queues you behind paid users. The Performance plan ($9.99/month) extends sessions to 6 hours and gives you a 1080p/60fps RTX rig. Ultimate ($19.99/month) goes to 4K/120fps with an RTX 4080 backend, which is overkill for a game like Raft but useful if you’re streaming heavier titles too.

Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud) does not stream Raft. According to Microsoft’s xCloud catalog page, xCloud only streams Xbox Game Pass titles, and Raft has never been in the Game Pass library. We searched twice in April 2026 using both “Raft” and “Redbeet” as keywords. Zero results both times.

Boosteroid is a third option. It streams Raft on Xbox browsers for a flat $7.99/month with no session cap. We didn’t test this one ourselves, but Boosteroid’s public game list shows Raft as available.

#Looking Ahead at a Future Xbox Port

The honest answer: no one knows, and Redbeet hasn’t promised one.

A few signals tell us it’s unlikely soon. Redbeet’s last public comment about consoles came in a 2023 Steam community reply, where a developer wrote that consoles “aren’t off the table but aren’t a priority.” We haven’t seen a follow-up since.

Axolot Games’ Twitter (now X) account has posted no roadmap update mentioning Xbox in over 18 months. The Final Chapter content drop shipped in June 2022 was framed as story-complete. That usually signals studios moving toward maintenance rather than expansion.

Counter-signal: survival games are hot on Xbox. Obsidian announced that Grounded crossed 20 million players in early 2024 across PC and Xbox combined, and Valheim joined Xbox Game Pass in March 2023 to a strong reception from console players. Coffee Stain Publishing has continued shipping free content updates to the Xbox build, suggesting the port pays its own bills. There’s clearly an audience for this genre.

If Redbeet ever wants to fund a port, the demand is there.

For now, treat Xbox Raft as wishful thinking. Don’t preorder anything claiming an Xbox version, since those listings are scams. Follow Redbeet on Steam if you want to hear it first. Some Xbox players also hit issues with Xbox remote play not working, which is worth fixing before relying on cloud streaming for any game.

Obsidian’s “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” survival sandbox runs natively on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. You scavenge yards, build twig fortresses, and fight bugs solo or in 4-player co-op.

#ARK: Survival Ascended

The Unreal Engine 5 remake of ARK: Survival Evolved launched on Xbox Series X|S in November 2023. The graphics overhaul replaces every asset and ships with cross-progression to PC, which the original ARK never had. Tame dinosaurs, build tribal bases, raid other tribes.

#Stranded Deep

This one’s the closest mechanical match to Raft. You start on an ocean raft, scavenge wreckage and islands, manage hunger and thirst, and dodge sharks. Stranded Deep is on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Game Pass.

If “Raft on Xbox” is what you literally want, Stranded Deep is the answer.

#The Long Dark

Cold-weather survival in the Canadian wilderness after a geomagnetic disaster. No combat with players. Just brutal weather, wolves, and starvation.

It’s a slower, more cinematic survival game than Raft, but the core loop is identical: scavenge, build, last another day. Available on Xbox and Game Pass.

#Valheim

Viking-themed open-world survival with base building and Norse boss fights. Valheim came to Xbox and Game Pass in March 2023 and supports 10-player co-op. It’s larger in scope than Raft but hits the same “build a home, defend it” pleasure. Many crafting survival options on PS4 we’ve covered also exist on Xbox via the same publishers.

According to the Microsoft Store listing, Survive on Raft launched on Xbox in 2024 with similar ocean-survival framing, but it’s a different game from a different studio. Reviews have been mixed; players note it has noticeably less content than Redbeet’s Raft based on user-posted feedback. If you want the real Raft experience, GeForce NOW remains the only path.
