TikTok Tips & Tricks

Everything we've published about TikTok: going live, growing an account, fixing playback, and the creator-payout math nobody explains clearly.

Hands-on TikTok guides grouped by what you're trying to do: post, grow, fix, or cash out. We re-test each walkthrough against the current app build, since TikTok shifts its interface constantly.

In short.

01What

An evergreen hub for everything TikTok: going live, editing, growing a following, fixing playback bugs, and understanding how creator payouts actually work.

02Why

TikTok's in-app help is thin and its interface shifts constantly. Most readers know the outcome they want, not the menu it now lives under. We organize around the outcome.

03When this hub helps

Start here if a TikTok task is new to you. For a specific error message or a 'not working' bug, jump straight to the matching fix guide in the list below.

Where most TikTok users start

Five settings worth checking before you post or troubleshoot anything.

5 steps
  1. 01

    Pick the right account type

Profile → Menu → Settings and privacy → Account. Current types include Personal, Business, and Organization. Personal accounts can unlock creator tools and Analytics after at least one public post; Business accounts add business tools and the Commercial Music Library.

  2. 02

Lock down who can see and save your videos

Settings and privacy → Privacy. Turn Downloads off and set Comments to Friends if you post personal content. Privacy defaults vary by account age and region; private and under-16 accounts often start more locked down.

  3. 03

Clear the cache before troubleshooting playback

Settings and privacy → Free up space → Clear cache. A large cache can contribute to stalling or load failures, so clear it early in troubleshooting.

Clearing the cache is intended to free temporary files. If drafts or login state change unexpectedly, re-check after an app update.

  4. 04

Check whether you qualify for monetization

Creator Rewards Program typically requires age 18+, a personal account in good standing, 10,000 followers, 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, and availability in your region. Profile → Menu → TikTok Studio → Creator Rewards Program shows where you currently stand.

  5. 05

Turn on Restricted Mode if a younger user shares the phone

Settings and privacy → Content preferences → Restricted Mode. It filters mature content but is not a substitute for Family Pairing.
